** Flu Vaccine is recommended for all children 6 months of age & older

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that all children 6 months and older receive the injectable form of the vaccine for the 2018-2019 flu season.

The AAP recommends the flu shot as the first choice for children. Because it has provided the most consistent protection against all strains of the flu virus in recent years.

FLUMIST: The AAP/CDC support the use of FluMist but noted the nasal spray did not work as well against certain strains during the 2013-2016 flu season therefore was not recommended the past two flu seasons. The effectiveness of the latest nasal spray vaccine for this upcoming season is more of an unknown against the influenza strain. The nasal spray may be used if a child refuses the shot, or if the injectable supply is no longer available.
