Coordinated activities of the four ORD laboratories located at RTP, with a staff of 600 and a budget in excess of $100 million. Responsible for directing EPA’s principal health effects research effort, determining long-range health research policy, planning research efforts, reviewing and coordinating all areas of the program.

Supervised a staff of 120 and budget of $15 million, coordinating four branches: Clinical Studies, Epidemiology, Biometry, and Aerometry.
