Check-Ups are an Important part of your child's health. This is the time to identify problems early to promote maximun health as well as preventing many problems. Check-ups should begin the day your child is born. Having check-ups consistently done at the same office will allow for smaller changes to be detected earlier, such as a drop in the rate at which your child is growing. Check-ups are routinely done at birth, 2 weeks, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 24 months, 3 years, 4 years, 5 years, 6 years, and at least every 1-3 years there after. Additional check-ups may be indicated if your child has a specific health concern or problem we are following or if your child participates in some activities. Check-ups include: 1. A comprehensive unclothed physical exam. Your child may wear a swim-suite or we can provide an oversized shirt for most of the examination. 2. A comprehensive health history. This may be brief if we have been following your child since birth as we will already have the information to review. If your child is new to our office, this component may take longer to review. 3. A nutrition assessment 4. Anticipatory guidance and health education 5. Height and weight measurements. Head circumference measurement if your child is under 2. 6. Measurement of your child's heart rate, respiratory rate, and temperature. Measurement of your child's blood pressure if the child is 3 or older. 7. Immunizations 8. Dental Screening and fluoride varnishing if your child is under 2 and it is desired. 9. Lab procedures as needed including hemoglobin, urinalysis, TB test, and lead screenings. 10. Developmental screening. This may involve your completing a series of questions on your child's abilities in his or her normal environment.
