Ear aches can have many causes and an evaluation is required to determine the exact cause of an ear ache. Treatment for the pain will be acetaminophen or ibuprofen for 48 - 72 hours. Treatment for the cause of pain will depend upon the cause. Some causes of ear pain include inner ear infection, outer ear infection, throat irritation or infection, teething or gum irritations, TMJ, sinus pressure, and other causes. If your child's pain persists for more than 72 hours or if fever or other symptoms accompany the pain, please call for an evaluation. |
