After hours advice service

A pediatrician is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you call the office, and it is closed, the message will give you instructions to call the answering service.
If you have an urgent question that can not wait until office hours open, call the answering service, and they will page the nurse on call.
Our nurses take first call. This means a nurse will call you back within 20-to 30 minutes. If you don’t get a call within that time frame, please call the answering service back to let them know, and they will re-page her. (Unfortunately satellite towers go down periodically and we loose cell coverage from time to time).
If she feels your child needs a personal evaluation, she will refer you to the Emergency Room. The ER will evaluate the child and call the pediatrician on call if needed.
If there is a situation that the nurse can’t handle, she will call the pediatrician on call and call you back with their recommendations.
This call policy has been in place for over nine years and 99% of the time the nurse is able to answer all concerns and manage most issues.

The nurse on call can not schedule appointments, obtain medical records, or refill ADHD medications. All routine medication refills should be handled during regular business hours. The nurse that takes call is not in house. You must be an established patient in order to use this service.
