Medication Refills

Medication Refills may be available by phone if your child has been seen in our office within the last year. Please use our advice nurse line during regular office hours to request routine medication refills.

Special Rules apply to stimulant medications (used for ADHD) because these are federally controlled medications. This extra rules apply because some of these medications have been diverted for illicit use.
1. Prescriptions will need to be re-filled monthly. These medications can not be called in or faxed in to the pharmacy.
2. A parent must call the advice nurse 2-3 days before picking up the prescription. A good rule of thumb is to call when you have a 5 day supply of medication remaining. We request this lead time to review and prepare your child's medical record, ask you appropriate questions to document your child's response to the treatment, prepare the prescription, and have the prescription signed by one of our providers.
3. A parent will need to speak with an advice nurse prior to the refill being prepared. A message request with broad statement that everything is going well is an inadequate evaluation of your child's response to therapy. Please be sure to leave a number where the nurse can reach you if you leave a message requesting medication refills.
4. A parent is requested to pick up the prescription in person. If this is not possible, the parent must notify us of the adult (over age 18) who will be picking up and signing for the prescription.
5. The patient will be required to have a scheduled office visit with a provider in our office as indicated for medication evaluation and follow up. This normally occurs every 3 months. Missed appointments will result in our inability to provide refills by phone contact.
